The problem.
The client is a medical partnership that provides outsourced trauma surgery to several hospitals in the Barcelona area. Every surgery involves a doctor, a hospital, an insurer and a fee. With about 44 collaborating doctors and around 600 surgeries a year, the hard part is not operating. It is keeping the schedule, the settlement for each collaborator and the billing to insurers in step with each other.
The volume is also set to grow. The practice works with a projection of 1,500 surgeries a year, so the tool had to be ready for that load.
What we built.
Surgical scheduling
A web platform where each surgery is scheduled with its hospital, its doctor and its insurer. The schedule syncs with Google Calendar, and the people involved get alerts on WhatsApp.
Fee settlement for collaborators
Each surgery feeds the settlement of the collaborator who performed it. The practice sees what is owed to each of its about 44 doctors, surgery by surgery.
Insurer billing and claims in Holded
Billing to insurers and the follow-up of claims run through Holded, connected to the platform, so the operational data and the accounting data are the same data.
AI document reading
The platform reads incoming documents with AI vision and turns them into data it can work with.
Where it stands.
The platform is in production. As of 16 October 2026 it holds 45 live surgeries with a collaborator assigned, and the client's users work in it with real historical data. It was built between May and October 2026, with 303 commits in the repository.
